In recent years, Mexican restaurants and taqueria’s have been popping up on every street corner, providing las-outsideVancouver with an array of authentic and original Latin options. But very few can attest to the success and longevity Las Margaritas has enjoyed, opening doors in Kitsilano thirty years ago and owned by the Rodriguez family since 1994. It’s very large and abundant menu features delicious choices for lunch and dinner, and of course it’s famous margaritas and largest tequila selection in B.C.

Las Margaritas food style is known as California Mexican, a healthy variety of fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas, inspired by the cooking of Northern Mexico and Baja California. The atmosphere is festive and colorful, giving you the feeling like you’ve stepped into a cantina by the beach. To celebrate Cinco de Mayo on May 5th, you’ll find Mariachi bands playing classic Mexican songs along with contests and giveaways. You can also enjoy traditions on Mexican Independence Day and an alter to honor passed on loved ones on The Day of the Dead.

During the summer, Las Margaritas acts as an escape from the heat for Kitsilano and a place for good times with its large street side patio. A quick fix for your hunger is the tasty dish of chips and homemade salsa that come before every meal. The same delicious and well known salsa are now available at home, sold in groceries stories like Whole Foods, Choices, and IGA around the city.

20150121_131946Owner Dan Rodriguez pointed out that in the many years Las Margaritas has served the public, a steady crew of regulars have constantly come back and brought their families in what seems to be a generational tradition. People of all ages can enjoy the food (maybe not the Margarita’s just yet) and its festive Mexican cantina atmosphere. The restaurant will be closed down starting February 2nd and reopening on Friday night on February 6th to undergo kitchen renovations. The equipment might be upgrading, but the friendly service and tasty menu will stay the same.

Las Margaritas provides a traditional experience with gluten free options and a menu that’s hard to beat. You can look forward to a few new cocktails this summer and the large, cool, and always refreshing Margaritas it’s served from the beginning. The family owned restaurant welcomes all their amigo’s young and old for a meal or a drink you won’t soon forget.20150121_132055
