A great new spot on 4th avenue brings a fresh new flavor for diners in Kits. With their captivating patio lights and Rolands-8alluring aromas, Roland’s on Fourth is drawing some well-deserved attention. Just west of Maple, this spot was once home to Hells’ Kitchen, but those days are long gone. Roland’s has transformed the old dark and stormy bar into a classy Manhattan style like no other of its kind. “This place has everything,” offering an upscale menu, both private and shared seating areas, tender music playing overhead, and moderate pricing. Ironically enough, visiting Roland’s is as if you’re traveling to the well-respected dining district of Hell’s Kitchen in Manhattan. Isn’t evolution amazing?

Yes there really is a Roland…

Rolands-2Roland’s is owned and operated by Roland Pointner, a community man that aims to bring a face to the name. Having always dreamt of owning his own place, Roland wanted to operate a place that gave back to community with heartfelt hospitality and flavorful cuisine. “We’re different, but familiar.”

The wizard behind the curtain…

Sizzlin’ in the back of the house is a man that helps build up this brand. Chef David Uyeyma has been in kitchens for over 35 years. Having this amount of experience adds so wonderfully to the collection of chefs this community has to offer. Chef David cooks for guests as if they’re his own family. Tradition foods prepared fresh (via Rossdown Farms), wholesome and packed with flavor. The front house staff are led by Roland and his team. “Everyone gets to try the food and give their feedback.” Roland and Chef David train their staff to appreciate the culinary experience that goes into each patronage.

Most of the great “poutineries” are over the bridge and downtown, or far East in Montreal. Roland’s has noticed theRolands-14 need, and given the people of Kits what they want. Traditional poutine with just the right amount of cheese curds (shipped from Quebec) atop fresh cut fries and a red wine demi glaze that lay as a bed for the braised beef or duck is just what we’ve been waiting for. As you gaze on down their menu, you’ll come across some interesting items that may make you drool. Together with their staff, Roland and Chef David have composed a menu that they are so very proud of. I mean where else can you get The Showbiz Mac’n’Cheese burger? This King Kong sized burger comes with a 6oz mac’n’cheese patty on top of an 8oz beef burger.  This Their passion for food and flavours are so infectious it’ll make you visit again and again.
