A Sacred place for the SELF and the community

Sacred_001As you travel along West Fourth towards Alma, you’ll come across a sacred space on the South side of the street. It is a very unique place for people to express, shape and free their SELF. The SELF being the subject of one’s own experience, and is often hidden from activities of daily living. By tapping into this experience and allowing your body to move through expression, you’ll ultimately find and love your sacred space.

The Sacred Space Studio is newly owned (as of January 1, 2015) by Kim Gillett. Gillett has transformed this space into a communal “hub” for practitioners. The studio welcomes the community to experience a variety of classes in one safe container. This newly refreshed place offers therapeutic dance, movement, meditation, yoga, and other wellness practices in one familiar space. Practitioners/teachers/trainers are welcome to charge their guests as they choose, but the “space” fees are set a fixed rate per hour, day or weekend. Should you wish to “lock-in” a recurring time, arrangements can be made with Kim.

Kim Gillett is currently one of the more familiar brands practicing out of The Sacred Space Studio, but this will undoubtedly change over the coming weeks.

The 800 square foot of Sacred Space is located at 3574 West 4th Avenue (just East of Dunbar Street). The space includes a small office space for potential meetings or counseling/therapy sessions, a wide selection of equipment and a large (500 square foot) expression area.

Gillett’s offering to the community is like no other of its kind. With the intent to inspire others to “live in love” our community with its already supportive nature, will open its heart more readily. Gillett’s philosophy for embraced embodiment and perception stems from the influence of her mentor Penny Allport. Allport will be offering her wisdom and experience in a bi-weekly class entitled The Six Servants (a journey into the soul of relationship and the healthy masculine and feminine aspects of us all) as well as Moving Reverie (a time to explore ones self through movement and expression). These classes will begin on February 11, 2015.

Save the Date

On Friday, February 13th, 2015 from 6:00-9:00pm, The Sacred Space will host a grand opekim+Malaning and art show. Kim Gillett is inviting the community to visit the new space that is sure to become a landmark in no time. The art show will exhibit local artists that may too use the space in the future to feature their projects. In addition, Gillett will also showcase a few retail items that she is proud to carry in her space. Salt Spring Candles and Tiny Devotions mala beads are always available for purchase at The Sacred Space Studio.

Live in Love

Following the grand opening, Kim is welcoming guests to enjoy three different yoga session for FREE on February 14th for Valentine’s Day. Everyone loves to hear the words FREE, but feeling it through love and kindness just shows how wonderful this space is for the SELF and the community.
